Thrifting the Trends

Goodwill Date Looks: Color Pop Athletics

August 5, 2017 by Double Minted

This post is the second in our series in collaboration with our local Goodwill organization in San Francisco. We’re putting together affordable and chic date looks that we found at the awesome new Goodwill store on Bay Street in San Francisco, which is filled with amazing finds in a super cute and easy-to-shop setup.

One of our favorite things about the athleisure trend is that it’s super easy to thrift. For whatever reason, the generous people in our community are constantly donating like-new exercise clothes. We hope it’s because they kept their new year’s resolutions and have become more fit and healthy. No matter the reason, their donations go to a good cause and the result for shoppers is plenty of opportunities to get that trendy Lululemon and Fabletics look without the hefty price tag.

The idea behind Devon’s hiking date outfit is coordination. As chic as athleisure is in theory, it can still end up looking sloppy i f you don’t do it right. One way to make sure it doesn’t is to coordinate colors. This look is more polished because the shoes and the jacket match. Bonus points if you choose a color that makes your eyes pop: turquoise or blue for blue eyes, red or magenta for brown eyes, green or teal for green eyes, yellow or green for hazel eyes.

Once again, a San Francisco girl knows to go with layers, because you never know when one of our notorious microclimates will turn chilly. With the abundance of natural beauty and hiking trails that are gorgeous in any season, a hiking date is a great option no matter where you live in the Bay. Maybe a love of nature could lead to finding the love of your life.

Devon’s Hike Date Look: $22 total

Turquoise sneakers (by Puma): $9.99

Turquoise athletic jacket (by Kirkland): $6.99

Grey and black leggings (no label): $4.99

(hat previously owned)

Compare to about $140-$170 for this look purchased new!
