Goodwill Date Looks: Colorful Midi Skirt

This post is brought to you by our recent collaboration with our wonderful local Goodwill organization. While we love going to their stores for the amazing items we find, we also believe in their mission. Proceeds from Goodwill purchases help thousands of people in our community get back on their feet and find employment every year. Shopping feels good anyway, and shopping with a cause feels even better!

This post’s look is a second hand take on a classic date theme: a fancy evening out on the town. What fashionista doesn’t love dressing up very once in awhile for a special occasion? We certainly do! While California is known for being ultra-casual, there are still plenty of reasons to get glam in the Bay. From dinner at Chez Panisse, to drinks at Top of the Mark, to the San Francisco symphony. This look would work for any one of those.

One of our favorite parts of thrift shopping is when we find totally separate items that just happen to work perfectly together. This was one of those times. The satin top and skirt match so well they could be mistaken for a dress! This despite the fact that from our close inspection, we’d guess they were originally sold about twenty years apart. Throw in some fun strappy heels and a sparkly statement necklace (and a glass of wine) and we’ll call this outfit complete!

Britt’s Formal Evening Date Look: $34 total

Red satin camisole top (by Kay Unger New York): $4.99

Abstract floral midi skirt (unmarked, probably Amazon): $6.99

Silver strappy sandals (by Charles David): $14.99

Blue and gold statement necklace (unlabeled): $6.99

Compare to about $155-200 for this look new!
